Kathak is an Indian Classical dance form from Uttar Pradesh in North India. “Katha kahe so kathak” Kathak is the art of story telling that originated from the Kathakars (singing bards) who enacted stories from our epics in the temples. The simple art form eventually became stylized and later underwent a huge transformation with the influence of the Persians and the Mughals, both in rendition and attire.
As an oral tradition that was passed on from generation to generation, it is probably the only Indian classical dance form where both Hindu and Islamic cultures co exist beautifully.
