Chalana – dance for a cause is a bienniel classical and contemporary dance festival organized by the Rhythmotion Trust that was premiered in 2008. The foundation stone of Rhythmotion, the Artistic Director, Chitra Arvind, an internationally acclaimed dancer and choreographer, is the main reason why the dance company has grown and bloomed with beauty. Being trained in Contemporary dance, Kathak and Bharatanatyam, having performed with artists and worked with choreographers from across the world, gives the dance company that much needed ‘out of the world’ experience.

Founded in 2005 and registered as a Trust in 2008, Rhythmotion is a non profit Indian classical and contemporary dance company and a dance school that specializes in three dance styles including Bharatanatyam, Kathak and Indian contemporary dance. Artistic Director Chitra Arvind is the force behind Rhythmotion.
Training is provided in the Indian classical dance forms of Kathak and Bharatanatyam, and Contemporary dance techniques including Graham, Cunningham, Contact improvisation, yoga, Pilates, martial arts forms of Kalaripayattu, Chhau and folk arts forms.
